VAISON-LA-ROMAINE :
A pretty provencal town well known for its market, medievial town , the roman theatre, the roman ruins. In summer: international choral competition and the famous Vaison dance festival (the second largest dance festival after Marseille. Scheduled for 2011 : Sylvie Guillem, Cia Maria Pagés…)
AVIGNON :
“La Cité des Papes” , many exhibitions are held here in the Papal palace , THE “Pont d’Avignon”, differents museums and galleries to visit all around the town . In summer, the internationally renowned Avignon Festival with dance, music, theatre. A jazz festival in August and October, exhibition of 60 artists all around the town.
SEGURET, VILLEDIEU, CRESTET….all these little villages are well preserved and maintain much charm. Enjoy sitting out in the shade of the plane trees in the “place” with a “pastis”!
POTERIES : In Séguret, Mr BERTHEAS, makes beautiful pots, vases, plates etc and decorated in provencal colours. Mr FOURNIER, a “santonnier” , a custom known only in Provence, making figurines of local characters for use in a nativity scene during Christmas.
In Caromb, le “FOUR A CHAUX” pots for decoration and cooking.
In Tulette, Mr Michel MATHIEU, a well-known potter who rough clay cats , chicken, rabbits and enormous urns.
In Bellecombe, Mr Claude DELTON a weather-vane making, or as he says: “Les Objets du Vent”
FLEA MARKETS and ANTIQUES : in Isle sur la Sorgues, an antique and a local produce market (every Sunday morning)

Tuesday : the exceptional market in Vaison-la-Romaine where you find everything : vegetables, fruit, fish, meat, flowers, poteries, clothes, provencal fabrics….
Wednesday :Malaucéne, Puymeras, Avignon
Thursday : Nyons, Orange
Friday : Carpentras, Chateauneuf du Pape
Saturday : Aubignan, Sainte Cécile les Vignes
Sunday : Isle sur la Sorgues, Jonquières, Monteux
In Nyons, visit the olive mill where can be given a guided tour of the old and new mill. Open from 9 to 12 and 14 to 18 h 30.
THE MONT VENTOUX : a real emblem in Provence called “ Le Géant de Provence” (1912 m) and a mythical event of the TOUR DE FRANCE , the last arrival of the Tour de France on the summit was in 2009.
